Top 12 Wedding Registry Ideas
The Digital Couple – Amazon.com
Using an Amazon.com wedding registry shows your guests you aren’t afraid of technology, no, you embrace it. The process is as easy as can be, you just sign up and start searching Amazon like you were doing your own shopping trip – just this time don’t check out, instead send it to your registry list and when your guests go looking, they’ll see what and how many you want of each item. Especially helpful if you have many guests that are out of town, as they can pay and have it shipped right to you. +10 points if your items are Prime eligible, that’s a win-win for every person involved.
Classically Collected – Macy’s
Macy’s wedding registry is a great option for your registry because you can run the gamut from luggage to home goods like towels and sheets, to China, flatware, and serving pieces. Registry is available online or in store.
Yours (and ours frankly) Favorite Place – Target
That’s right, Target does registries! If you’re anything like me it’s hard to leave that store without a few more items in your cart than you had on your list. You can do your registry online or in store, and much like Macy’s you’ll be able to choose from their available house wares products.
MMHM – ETSY, the probable source for quite a bit of your handmade elements for your wedding, you can also pick out gifts for you and your significant other and create a registry. Unique in many ways, most notably that each item is generally handmade, it also means shipping will be from all over the world – not quite as centralized as others on this list – just something to keep in mind.
If you and your fiancé(e) are set in terms of plates, forks, towels, etc. and instead want your guests to donate to charities instead, you may look into TisBest. With TisBest, guests can purchase gift cards to charities on your behalf.
Not Just the Basics at Bed, Bath & Beyond
A favorite, Bed, Bath & Beyond is certainly a one stop shop – with everything you could think of available to put on your registry. Registry available online and in-store.
Ditch the Registry and Travel
With the advent of online crowdfunding sites came a great idea for soon-to-be newlyweds, Honeyfund! Using your guest list to donate towards your honeymoon in lieu of pieces for your home you may already have or didn’t feel like you needed to put on a registry, Honeyfund lets you put together your ideal honeymoon, or other newlywed costs like a down payment on a house, or helping you convert a room into a nursery, etc.
Anything and Anywhere
Simple Registry allows you to build a registry all in one place – with anything you want on it. This is good because you don’t have to manage 2-5 different locations to tell your guests, and if you’re including a byline on your invitations one “registry available at” line is much easier than a bulleted list.
A Modern Online Everything
Newlywish offers another all in one registry, with any one of their 50+ partner shops, with one of their biggest plusses being that they allow group collaboration on gifts (your sisters are splitting the cost of your KitchenAid mixer but live 500 miles apart – easy as pie) and even have a cash fund option.
Renovating or Buying New – Homes Cost A Lot
If you and your other half are looking to buy or renovate a home, sites like Hatch My House allow you to register for money to go directly towards just that. Once it’s done you’ll cross your threshold and thank each of your wonderful guests for helping you get started.
Quite the Connoisseurs
Is wine your thing? Bottlenotes lets you build a registry of wines and have your guests contribute to purchasing them to begin your collection.
Indecisive – Not In A Bad Way
If you just can’t think of what you need or where you want it from, Card Avenue solves that problem simply and easily, by letting you base your registry on gift cards.
Hopefully those wedding registry ideas get your wheels turning and help you think of where you can register to make gifts easier on you and your significant other, as well as your guests. It takes the guesswork out of gifts, and ensures you get what you want with minimal returning.

When you’re planning your wedding and on the search for cheap wedding venues, you can quickly become disillusioned if the traditional wedding venues near you (or where you’re planning to have the wedding) just won’t fit into your budget – or your theme. For those of you facing this dilemma, we’ve put together a list of some unique wedding venues that could prove to be affordable and fun for your special day!
Unique Wedding Venues
You might be surprised to find out that renting out a movie theater isn’t as much as you’d think. Most go for about $300-$1000 depending upon day of the week, time of day, and what all you need (projector/audio/visual, food, etc.). This is the perfect spot for those looking to do a hollywood themed wedding, as most will play either a movie currently in theaters or you can bring in a dvd.
Drive-in Movie Theater
If you’re lucky enough to still have an operating drive-in theater near you, this may be just the theme you were looking for. You may be able to reach out to your local theater and ask if it’s possible to rent a screen for an early completely private showing, or for a standard night time showing where you buy out that screen’s tickets. If you really try, they may even be able to schedule something where you can have your ceremony, reception, and cap it off with a movie screening. You may be thinking, “but I don’t want everyone to sit in their cars the whole time” – who said they had to? You can still rent tables, chairs, the works and set up a reception site, with the screen as your backdrop.
Stages & Local Theaters
Following the same thread as movie theaters, you may have a local playhouse or community center with a stage. What better spot for the wedding table, a band, or even the dance floor?
As we’ve mentioned before, restaurants can prove to be quite the budget saver if you have a small enough guest list to accommodate. Many have private rooms or are willing to section off an area for a pre-determined, and paid for, amount of guests. Your decor will probably be less flexible, but it won’t look sparse, because you’ll have the ambient decor of the restaurant already built in.
Local “Tour” Buyout (Chicago river boat tour, Seattle harbor cruise, etc.)
This is a really fun idea, if you live in a town or city with a local “tour”, consider contacting them to see if you could charter a private tour for your wedding; allowing you and your guests to experience the sights of your great city, while moving about and changing views constantly. This is definitely best geared towards boat oriented tours, as a bus isn’t going to be fun for anyone – except maybe a double decker open top. Bonus points if you have a special memory regarding the tour and you incorporate that into the wedding.
Local Mansions or Monuments
Some locales have monuments or even mansions that aren’t used as residences (in part or in whole) any longer, and in addition to offering usual tours, they have the option for you to rent out portions for an event. Sometimes you’ll be able to rent out just their lawn for a lesser cost, further keeping your budget intact.
Whatcha think? Do these sound fun, and like they’d fit your special day? Unique wedding venues can save you plenty of money, while giving you a fun twist on your big day.
