Wedding linens are one of your biggest opportunities to make your wedding yours. By choosing the right color combinations that fit your theme, you can take folding banquet tables and turn them into beautiful “set pieces” for your special day. Finding cheap wedding linens however can be daunting! You have to cover the wedding party table(s), seated guest tables (usually each seats 8-10 people), cake table, present table, welcome table – head spinning yet? But… it’s not that bad – promise!
There are a few forks in the wedding linens road – let’s start, shall we?
Cheap Wedding Linens
Vendor Provided Wedding Linens
Sometimes, depending on your venue, they’ll have linens on hand that they provide, either one set color or a couple of colors to choose from. By and large they won’t charge you extra, as it’s wrapped into the venue cost. The downside to this is working with the set colors they have, usually white and/or off white, possibly black, and possibly a shade of red. You may be able to bring in your own via rental or purchasing (see below) if you clear it with your point of contact at the venue first. Just so they know what’s going on and don’t try and keep your stuff thinking it’s theirs.
If you’re hosting at your own venue (backyard, friends house, etc.) or having your wedding at a restaurant (check with them first) you will have to provide your own linens. This means either renting or purchasing (see below). To find cheap wedding linens for rent, you’ll want to search near you, or your venue, for party rental companies. They tend to have TONS of colors, styles, and sizes for you to choose from and typically allow you to rent for a day at a time. Usually they’ll let you keep it an extra, especially if they’re closed on Sundays, etc. Through our research we’ve found it costs about half as much as purchasing, i.e. $7.95 for a banquet sized tablecloth rental vs. 14.95 for purchase.
At times you may want to look into buying your own wedding linens. If you can’t find a party rental place, or you find your local party rental charges as much as you can buy some online for, or they don’t have the color you’d like or style, etc. Much like rental houses, the world is your oyster here – pintuck tablecloths, damask tablecloths, standard solid color tablecloths – even ones with designs like chevrons. Here are some great options for buying your own wedding linens:
Hopefully that helps you stop your head from spinning a bit! Wedding linens add a lot to your decor, but don’t have to add a lot to your budget.
